Immersive DOOH / Las Vegas Sphere
LVCVA x F1
Project Information
What’s more Vegas than a slot machine? How about one that’s 366 feet tall? For the inaugural Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with the team at The Mill to turn the world’s most insane LED canvas into a larger-than-life "pull and win" activation for the LVCVA and R&R Partners.
Animating for the Sphere isn't your typical 16:9 render. We’re talking about a 580,000-square-foot "Exosphere" that behaves more like a planet than a screen. Working within The Mill’s world-class pipeline, I helped tackle the unique technical hurdles of this massive scale:
1.2 Million LED Pucks: Every keyframe had to account for a massive, wrap-around array of light.
Spherical Mapping: We moved away from flat compositions to work with custom mapping that kept the "reels" from warping as they spun across the building's extreme curvature.
Scale that Matters: This wasn't just OOH; it was a digital landmark for over 300,000 F1 fans on the ground and millions more watching the global broadcast.
The "Giant Slot Machine" became an instant viral hit and a centerpiece for the city’s transition into the Sports Capital of the World. It was a wild two-month sprint of technical problem-solving and high-octane animation—a total "bucket list" project to execute alongside such a talented crew.
